This is lyrical, poignant and healing. For me, it served as a meditation. Each day I’d find some quiet time to read one or two essays and contemplate the photos. I found the river and its salmon taking on endless shapes and forms that also were reflections of my soul: hope, turbulence, calm, despair, majesty, grace and aspiration to dance with angels all around.

This book of essays and photographs is a beautiful story that weaves the culture of the people along the Columbia River with the very life force of the river. This is an important legacy that informs those of us who are new to the river on the importance of the life and health of the river. The book also emphasizes that the voice of these people of the river must become a part of the river treaty. The photography is deeply moving and rich to support the heart messages of the essays. The Columbia is a mighty river with a powerful story of those who thrive on its banks.
